Margaret McNamara, Lifelong Charlestown Resident

Worked for a quarter century for the Middlesex County Courthouse.

Margaret A. (Bryson) McNamara, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died last Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at Marian Manor Nursing Home in South Boston following an extended illness.

She was 89 years old.

McNamara was born in Boston on July 9, 1924, a daughter of the late Theobald Bryson and Margaret A. (Cahill) Bryson. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Girls Latin High School in Boston. 

McNamara worked for more than 25 years for Middlesex County Courthouse and was the Head Clerk for the Civil Department. She was a member of the Massachusetts Retirees Association.

McNamara is the beloved wife of the late Arthur I. McNamara. She is the devoted mother of the late Paul K. McNamara. She is the beloved sister of the late Ann McKenna, Ruth Williams and Thomas Bryson. She is the loving aunt to Maureen McKenna Keane, Denise Sestito and many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. The family expresses their gratitude to Steven Howard for being a wonderful neighbor and also the staff at Marian Manor in South Boston for their care.

McNamara's funeral was Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
