Ann E. (Blute) Humphrey, 81

Ann E. (Blute) Humphrey, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was 81 years old.

Ann was born in Boston on May 14, 1931, a daughter of the late James Blute and Mary (Sullivan) Blute. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1949.

Ann worked as a clerk at ”Donovan & Fallons” on Main Street in Charlestown for more than 30 years until its closing. She then worked as a clerk at CVS in Charlestown for more than 20 years before retiring a couple of years ago.

Ann enjoyed spending quality time with her family.

Ann is the beloved wife of the late retired Boston Firefighter Ernest E. Humphrey. She is the devoted mother of Ann Cunha and her husband Alan, Boston Firefighter Ernest Humphrey (Engine Co. 20) and his wife Donna, Garrett Humphrey and his wife Jean and Stephen M. Humphrey. She is the loving Nana to Ashley Egan and her husband Kyle, Daniel Humphrey, Brent Humphrey, Evan Humphrey and Dean Humphrey and loving great-Gran to Andrew and Spencer Egan. She is the beloved sister of James Blute and his wife Beatrice “Mickey” and the late Mary Lafollette.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ann’s Funeral on Thursday, May 16 at 9 a.m. from Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 55 Warren St., Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, May 15 from 3-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Ann’s name to The American Red Cross, 274 Tremont St., Boston, MA 02116.
