The next Lakeview Lodge Concert will be Saturday May 19th at the Lakeview Lodge 265 Beacon Road. The show starts at 7pm with Henry Sidle followed by Prester John and rounding out the night with Sloan Wainwright.

Henry Sidle, born in Chicago, now living in New Haven, is a teenage guitar, bass, and piano player. He plays most of his shows solo acoustic, but some with his bands Funk You Up, The CMI Band, and the Hamden Middle School Jazz Band. He has played in Montreal, New York City, Newport, Jacksonville, Washington D.C., and many other cities.

Henry played at the 2011 Gathering of the Vibes music festival and has opened for some national acts. You can find him at a venue in your town, a city street, or at a local farmers market playing through his large repertoire. Henry has recorded his single "The World as it Could Be" which was posted on the Rex Foundation's website. ActionNow Network calls Henry a "Superstar Hero" and Yale Daily News calls Henry "New Haven's Youngest Troubador." His music has been posted on the websites of the New Haven Register and the Hartford Courant. Henry is staying local for now, but he plans on playing all over.

Shawn Persinger (aka Prester John) is among the most innovative and eclectic composers, guitarists, singer/songwriters performing today. He's been called a cross between The Violent Femmes and Leo Kottke; Stravinsky composed for AC/DC; a mix of Ani DiFranco and John McLaughlin; Michael Hedges plays The Minutemen; but what he really is, is what countless critics have written, "A true original." Drawing on a wealth of influences Shawn has combined the best of rock, jazz, folk, concert, world music and the avant-garde to develop a sound that is uniquely his own.

From his work with the groundbreaking avant-rock band, Boud Deun, to his solo guitar music; his aggressive folksinger style to his pieces for the “concert” music world; Shawn has proven that his musical sensibility is unlimited. Shawn has released three solo CDs in the past four years: “Peerless,” “Reasonable Horse,” and his most recently released record, “The Art of Modern/Primitive Guitar,” all of which have earned him international popular and critical acclaim.

Praise for his playing ability and composition style by publications as far reaching as Rolling Stone, Guitar World, The Washington Post, The Village Voice and countless others, has enabled Shawn to tour, and sell CDs, worldwide. With continuous national airplay, an endorsement from Elixir Guitar Strings and support from Taylor Guitars’ “Discover the Indies” program Shawn is continuing to develop a wide and diverse following throughout the world.

An outstanding and highly original singer, Sloan Wainwright is a compelling performer best known for her rich contralto voice, intensely personal lyrics, and an innovative approach to song. Hard to categorize, her musical style melds the best of pop, folk, jazz, and blues to create a soulful hybrid. Her personal appearances are forceful and uplifting, her stage persona self-described as "we take our audience on a journey, we come in full tilt and do our show."

Born into a highly acclaimed musical family (youngest sister to Loudon Wainwright, auntie to Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright) Sloan's teenage years were largely influenced by a constant flow of diverse artists, writers and musicians. She learned to play the piano and watched her brother Loudon, 11 years older--and the father of Rufus and Martha-- become successful. Writing and performing, throughout the Greenwich Village hipster scene, Sloan developed her own unique style. She says: There was an effortlessness about the flow of creativity at that stage of my life. I didn't think, I was just fearlessly flowing.

Sloan is an independent artist making grown-up girl music in the truest sense - a rare, one of a kind voice that speaks deeply to our humanity and leaves us forever changed.
