GoFundMe: Help Build a Greenhouse in Kenya

Help a resident help a family half a world away.

According to the One Acre Fund, Africa faces an unprecedented food crisis. Families that already spend most of their income on food are facing longer hunger seasons. In sub-Saharan Africa, 1 in 8 children dies before age 5. Record food shortages will only make the problem worse. The vast majority of poor rural people in East and Southern Africa are smallholder farmers - the solution to their food crisis lies in their own fields.

So local resident Chelsea Dossett Howell has set up a GoFundMe site to help one such family, the Simati's who live in Kenya, to build a greenhouse which will help improve their livelihood and also generate self sustainable income. They want other people to benefit from their farm, especially the orphans in their community. It will benefit their community by allowing them to buy crops from their greenhouse for a cheaper price.
