Teamsters Local 25 Endorses Boston City Council Candidates

The union has headquarters in Charlestown.

Members of Teamsters Local 25, based in Charlestown, this week voted to endorse four candidates for at-large Boston city councilor and one for District 5 city councilor.

Endorsements for the at-large race went to incumbent Ayanna Pressley, former city councilor Michael Flaherty and newcomers Jack Kelly, a Charlestown resident, and Michelle Wu.

The Teamsters also voted to endorse Tim McCarthy for District 5 city councilor.

The union previously had voted to endorse mayoral candidate Marty Walsh.

“All of the candidates we endorsed have shown leadership in their community and professional lives, and we are proud to endorse them. They understand the challenges working families face every day and will be our voices as Boston moves forward,” said Sean M. O’Brien, president/principal officer of Teamsters Local 25, headquartered in Charlestown.

Teamsters Local 25, which was founded in 1903, is the largest Teamsters’ union in New England and represents more than 11,000 men and women, according to a press release.
