Week in Review: Two-Alarm Fire, Election Results

A look at some of the top stories on Charlestown Patch last week.

Life gets busy, and Patch understands that. So with that in mind, here are a few stories you might have missed on Charlestown Patch this week:

  1. —Boston firefighters quickly knocked down a nasty two-alarm fire at 7 Phipps St. Wednesday, Nov. 8. A woman was burned in the ordeal, and a firefighter was cut in the face while trying to battle the blaze, according to the Boston Fire Department.
  2. Barack Obama Re-Elected President—President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan.
  3. —Democratic US Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren took home more votes in Boston than Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, eventually winning the seat overall.
  4. PHOTOS: Election Morning in Charlestown—Voters endured a chilly morning and decent sized lines to cast their ballot in Charlestown on Tuesday, Nov. 6. 
  5. Election 2012: State Ballot Question Results—Massachusetts voters made decisions on car repairs, assisted suicide and medical marijuana in the statewide election.
  6. Residents Push for Grocery Shuttle as Johnnie's Closes—With Johnnie’s Foodmaster reportedly closing by Nov. 19, Charlestown residents are urging officials to come up with a plan for shuttling people to supermarkets in Somerville or Chelsea. At the Charlestown Neighborhood Council meeting Thursday night, several people raised concerns about getting a transportation program up and running—especially with Thanksgiving exactly two weeks away.
  7. A New Local Editor at Charlestown Patch—In which we introduce the new permanent local editor for Charlestown Patch.
  8. Multiple Assault and Battery Reports Between Halloween and November 2—Charlestown police reports from Oct. 30 through Nov. 2.
