This year marks the 12th Annual Dan McGoff Christmas Classic Hockey Tournament hosted by Charlestown Youth Hockey. Come watch some talented teams compete all weekend long. The tournament will be held on Friday, Dec. 7 through Sunday, Dec. 9 at the the home of Charlestown Youth Hockey.
This tournament is held in honor and in memory of Dan McGoff who spent many years mentoring young hockey players, coaches and parents about the finer points of youth hockey
He exemplified how one person can make a big difference by giving back to an important nonprofit community-based youth program.
So come down and support your Charlestown teams and enjoy some of Edie’s Snack Shack fine cuisine or try some of the delicious desserts from the bake sale, and don’t forget to buy some raffles for a chance to win some fantastic prizes.
Other events coming up this weekend in Charlestown:
• 2012 Christmas Trolley Tour and Charlestown Tree Lighting—Sunday, Dec. 9, 3 p.m. at Thompson Square. Come join Mayor Thomas Menino along with Santa Claus and other holiday characters as they travel around Boston spreading holiday cheer and helping to light 16 community Christmas trees, including Charlestown’s. This annual event is partly sponsored by Macy’s Department Stores.
• Constructing Holiday Tradition—Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 9, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at USS Constitution Museum. Create a free weatherproof ornament to decorate the holiday tree on board Old Ironsides.
• Holiday Concert—Sunday, Dec. 9, 3:30 p.m. at Saint Mary-Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, 55 Warren St. St. Mary-St. Catherine of Siena Parish together with Friends of the Charlestown Branch Library and Hammond Residential Real Estate will hold a free Holiday Concert featuring The Copley Singers, with audience participation. The concert is free with a suggestion of donations to Harvest on Vine Food Pantry.
