Charlestown Man Charged with Robbery and Possession of Pills

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

Boston Police were flagged down by a witness who said they were “chasing the guy who stole the purse,” and pointed towards West School Street. Officers found the suspect and a witness both out of breath on Lawrence Street. Gasping, the witness told the police, “he took it,” meaning the black purse. The suspect, gasping, told the police that the purse “got stuck on my bike and I tried to give it back.” At this time, a PBD dispatcher provided a description of the suspect and officers placed the man in handcuffs.

The witness told police that they had seen the suspect crash their bike into the victim and they both ended up on the ground. The witness stated that they observed the suspect and the victim struggle for the purse. Once the suspect took the purse, the witness told police that the suspect got on his bike and took off. At this point, the witness chased after the suspect down High Street, left onto Wood Street and down Main Street. The suspect then fell off his bike and began running on foot towards the 99 Restaurant. At this point, another witness began chasing the suspect. They pursued the suspect until they saw the police and flagged them down.

The victim was treated on scene for a contusion on her head and arm pain. The victim refused further medical treatment.

James Murphy of 48 Sullivan Street was arrested and charged with robbery by means of a dangerous weapon. During the booking process, officers found 2 orange pills, 12 round yellow pills and 90 white pills in an unmarked bottle.

Any of you supporters of the kiddo porn sicko care to share why James Murphy address is posted? What about Mr. Murphy's innocent family members? Where's the outrage? You all have a twisted sense of what is right and what is wrong. Apparently, Mr. Murphy doesn't have ties to City Hall and Mayor Mumbles. Kudos to the witnesses who chased him down!!

This is not even where James Murphy resides, but it is his families home. People do not care what they write when someone has a disease called "ADDICTION"!

This is an all time low for james murphy!!heroin has a deadly grip on him,he needs to get help!! and not a 30 day program more like 6 months to a year!anyone who is strugling with addiction or if you know someone who is strugling with addiction knows the evil it can bring to ones life, recovery is the only cure for this deadly disease.unfortionatly you can't force someone to get help, they have to want it!!hopefully this is the rock bottom for jimmy and he goes in for treatment..

Although Mr Murphy needs help , people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. It's a shame comments are thrown about someone else's child when their own lives in a motel pregnant with yet another child that working people tax dollars will support . And if not for Mr Murphys family miss Janets own granddaughter would be in foster care ,,, so yes drugs are horrible and affect all families !

Now that you have explained your take on " all time lows " perhaps ypu may want to reevaluate some all time lows with others & drugs as well as " Mr Hitchcock" - the good old saying goes - But there fro the the grace of God goes I . One should not judge others , especially if they are not ready to be judged themselves or be willing to judge their own - God Bless you Janet.

Joanne November 08, 2012 at 02:49 AM
To Janet D, I am not Jen or the other person who left a comment about Janet's comment but I don't see where she was picking on a five year old, one statement was made about your granddaughter which is fact and everyone knows it and I really don't care about your life or what you call a life! I know my facts more than you know your lies. And one more thing, to Janet and everyone else who left a comment, this is not a place to post nonsense, it was about a lady who had her purse stolen by a person who happens to suffer a horrible disease. Post your nonsense somewhere else! A Concerned Townie
