5 Things To Know Today in Charlestown: Nov. 28

A local author and historian will discuss the 'Deep Water Battles of 1812' today at the USS Constitution Museum.

1. Wet weather: Expect a mix of rain and snow before 11 a.m., with a slight chance of rain between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The rest of the day will be mostly cloudy with a high near 41 degrees and a low around 27. Little to no snow accumulation is expected.

2. Battle talk: William H. White, a local author and naval historian, will present an illustrated discussion of the major naval engagements that occurred during the first year of the War of 1812, tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the USS Constitution Museum in Charlestown. The program is free and open to all.

3. City Council meeting: Boston City Council will meet today at noon on the fifth floor of City Hall. See the full agenda on the city website. All meetings are open to the public and can also be viewed on Comcast Channel 51 and on webcast.

4. Hearing rescheduled: The Boston Conservation Commission’s enforcement hearing for the Shipyard Quarters Marina (Pier 8) and Pier 6 in the Charlestown Navy Yard has been rescheduled from today to Wednesday, Dec. 12. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Read the full story here.

5. Wine and Art: Don't just drink wine—learn to taste it. With the help of an expert, savor a new selection from a featured winery each month at the Museum of Fine Arts (465 Huntington Ave.). Join up in Bravo restaurant on the last Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. for Winesdays. Cost is $25 per person and includes hors d'oeuvres and a tasting of the featured wines.
