BOSTON ARTIST OPENS HIS DOOR TO THE PUBLIC

Art enthusiasts have two upcoming opportunities to see Boston based, mixed media artist Keith Maddy’s work up close and personal.  Maddy who was recently featured in 100 Boston Artists by Chawky Frenn, is gearing up for Somerville Open Studios on Saturday, May 3, 2014 and Sunday, May 4, 2014.   Somerville Open Studios, the first Open Studios of the year, is the perfect opportunity to visit some of your favorite artists or discover new ones.  Maddy will be one of many artists opening their studios to the public.

Maddy’s newest collages Cuckoo and American Boy ’64 will be on display along with several other new pieces.  “Somerville Open Studios is a great time for art lovers to explore the depth of Boston’s art community, meet artists first hand in their studios, see a body of their work and to learn more about their process,” Maddy explained.  “For artists it’s invaluable time for networking and self-promotion.”

Maddy was also recently chosen to be one of the 84 artists represented in the 2014 Cambridge Art Association National Prize show.  The Cambridge Art Association received nearly 1,200 pieces of artwork, entered by 389 artists from 29 states. Maddy is thrilled to be one of the 84 artists chosen.  “It’s an honor to have been selected for this very competitive show and a great opportunity for the public to see my unique style of work.” Maddy shared.  Maddy’s Stirring the Pot can be seen at the National Prize show May 13, 2014 through June 26, 2014 at the Kathryn Schultz and University Place galleries.
