A new restaurant featuring a wide selection of beers and food is headed to Charlestown this summer.

Michael Cooney, currently a bartender at The Publick House in Brookline, along with Sorriso Trattoria Chef John Paine, plan to to open a new beer garden by the name of "The Brewer's Fork" in Hayes Square, according to Boston Magazine

Editor's Note: The above paragraph has been updated to clarify that Michael Cooney is a bartender at the Publick House and not the owner of the business as originally reported.

Originally expected to open last fall, the owner plans to open The Brewer's Fork by late summer next to McCarthy Bros. Liquors on Moulton Street in Charlestown, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.

The new restaurant will comprise about 65 seats and offer American cuisine, craft beer and wine, with food cooked in a wood-fired oven, Charlestown Patch reported last summer, when Cooney and Paine first announced plans for the business to the Charlestown Neighborhood Council.

The two look to include items from local farms, artisanal cheeses and organic wines, in addition to 24 beers on tap.

The beer menu will focus on Belgian-style items as well as local craft beer from brewers Jack's Abby, Allagash and Trillium Brewing, according to Boston Magazine, which also reported that the restaurant will use a 2,100 square-foot basement to store rare beers for special events and/or occasions.

If you build it, I will be there.

I hope they offer some British-style Ales though. Don't much care for Belgian brews.
