Julia Stiles Coming to Charlestown with 'Ted' Veteran

Filming will take place on five days in September.

Julia Stiles and a movie crew will descend on Charlestown this month.

Ryan Cook, a movie business professional who worked on the recent Boston-based Mark Wahlberg hit, “Ted,” told the Charlestown Neighborhood Council Tuesday that he will bring Stiles and crew to town on Sept. 12, 13, 24, 25 and 26.

According to information supplied to the council and Charlestown Patch, the made for TV political romantic comedy “The Makeover” will film at Salon Fourty-Four, the active construction site at the corner of Park Street and Warren Street, the Charlestown Commerce Center, 12 Belmont Street and 56 Union Street.

Cook said the plot follows a friendly beer truck driver who is made over to fill the role of a politician.

He said he’ll do what he can to minimize disruptions to town residents—he stressed that he lives and works in this area, unlike crews from Hollywood—but that the production will still include some inconveniences to residents.

When the crew films on Belmont Street, Cook said, his team will block off the street and clear it of cars—but he’ll let residents through if they need to get home.

“We’ll be as accommodating as possible,” he said.
