Crate Escape Coming to Charlestown

A new dog daycare facility is opening in November.

Crate Escape is coming to Charlestown next month, opening a new location at 200 Terminal Street. Crate Escape already has two locations in Belmont and in Cambridge. The new dog daycare facility will have 17,000 square feet of room to run around and play in for dogs of all sizes.

The dog-smart staff will pick up customers dogs at their homes and let them play for up to six hours then drop them off later on. Dogs are kept off of a leash under staff supervision with other dogs of similar temperament, according to a press release.

Owners Stephanie and Bradley Hastings have ten years of experience creating and managing dog daycares. “We’re so proud to bring Crate Escape to Charlestown and downtown Boston, we can’t wait to open the doors” Hastings said in a press release. “We will give Boston dog owners and their dogs a new way of life.”

Crate Escape opened their doors in Cambridge in 2004 and grew thanks to word of mouth from customers. They were able to open a store in Belmont in 2006. “The Charlestown location will look a lot like our Belmont location,” Marketing Manager Barb Stanley said.

200 Terminal is practically under the Tobin Bridge and next to the car port. Where is the outdoor space? I assume that they allow the dogs to go outside to "do their business". I would like to know where the outdoor space, if any, is. If there is no outdoor space how do the employees ensure the dogs can relieve themselves on time and not in the space? 200 Terminal is already being used by other businesses. What floor is it on? I am disappointed with this story as it seems to be a regurgitation of the company's press release.

Hi Toonie: The 3000 sf. of space directly outside of our first floor Crate Escape daycare/ overnight/ grooming facility is just one of the reasons 200 Terminal St. is a fabulous location. We let the dogs outside every 15 minutes to relieve themselves, much more often than if they are home! Stay tuned for updates, and when we open, visit us!

Ehhh....another pet business moving into Charlestown. Non-story. I'll stick with Monumentails for my dog walks & romps.

I cant wait for their opening. My dog brady has been going for years. The staff is great and brady loves the place. I work near charlestown and will continue to use their services. Daycare, overnite, grooming or traing they do it all and they do it well.
