Charlestown Whole Foods Opens With Bread Breaking

Company and community leaders spoke at a short ceremony Wednesday morning outside the new store in the Bunker Hill Mall.

Charlestown has a local grocery store once again.

Nearly nine months after Johnnie's Foodmaster in the Bunker Hill Mall closed its doors, the new Whole Foods Market officially opened for business with a bread breaking ceremony and a few words from Whole Foods officials, Charlestown Neighborhood Council chairman Tom Cunha and Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina.

The market opened at 10 a.m., following the remarks.
