What's Open, Closed in Boston on President's Day?

Find out what offices and businesses are closed due to the holiday.

Presidents' Day is observed Monday, Feb. 17. Here's a handy list of what's open (and closed) during the holiday in Boston:

  • Retail stores: Most open.
  • Supermarkets and liquor stores: Open.
  • Convenience stores: Open.
  • Bars and restaurants: Open. 
  • Stock market: Closed.
  • Municipal offices: Closed (including City Hall, public schools, libraries, and community centers). 
  • Banks: Closed.
  • Libraries: Closed.
  • Schools: Closed.
  • Post office: Closed.
  • MBTA: Operating on a Saturday schedule.
  • Municipal Tow Lot:  Closed, reopens Tuesday at 7 a.m. 
  • Trash & Recycling: One day late for the remainder of week except Boston Proper, Roxbury, South Boston, Charlestown; see schedule for full details. 
  • Street Cleaning: No Monday daytime street cleaning (except overnight cleaning between 12:01 and 7 a.m. on posted arterials). 
  • Parking Meters: Free, time limit is not in effect. All other parking rules remain in effect. 
  • Tow Lot: Closed, will reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday (kiosks open 24 hours for cash, Visa, or MasterCard payments).
