Tuesday Tribute Will Mark Anniversary of Boston Marathon Bombings
April 15 event will honor all those affected by the bombings.
A tribute marking the one year anniversary of the April 15, 2013 Boston Marathon Bombings starts at noon Tuesday at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
Thousands are expected to turn out to mark the anniversary and honor all affected by the bombings including those whose lives were lost, survivors and first responders. Featured speakers will represent families affected, medical staff who treated victims in the wake of the attacks, members of government agencies who responded to the bombings and civic leaders, as well as a flag-raising ceremony and a moment of silence.
Tuesday marks the one year anniversary of the bombings that killed four and injured hundreds more. The bombings kept the city and state on high alert for days while officials searched for suspects. That search ended four days later with a shootout in a Watertown neighborhood.

The Boston Athletic Association announced plans for this official tribute in February.
The tribute starts at noon. Vice President Joe Biden is expected to join Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and Governor Deval Patrick, as well as former Boston Mayor Tom Menino for the ceremony.

The tribute will conclude with a flag-raising ceremony and a moment of silence at 2:30 p.m.
During the event, the Green Line trains will bypass and not stop at Copley Station between the hours of noon and 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
