The USS Constitution Museum in Charlestown on Thursday will host an annual event that reveals how men and women lived, worked and celebrated life on the vessel and on shore.

The event, "Meet Mr. Chew: Purser's Party & Collections Open House" is set to run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 in Building 22 of the Charlestown Navy Yard.

Tickets can be purchased online here at a cost of $30 for Charlestown Chamber of Commerce members and $35 for non-members.

The event is expected to welcome about 200 guests on the Boston Waterfront to kick off the summer season.

Those who attend will enjoy libations from Privateer Rum and meet Thomas J. Chew, who served on the USS Constitution's 1812 crew as a purser, buying food, selling clothing and paying wages for those on board.
