Kids Cool Off at Renovated Doherty Playground During City Heat Wave

The Boston Parks Department, Police Department and Mayor Menino hosted a Splash Dance Party on July 18.

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department hosted a Splash Dance Party on Thursday, July 18 at Doherty Playground. The event, which included music, ice cream and free leis, celebrated the park's recent reopening after undergoing several months of renovations. Mayor Thomas Menino even dropped by to hand out Hoodsies and talk with families who took advantage of the park's splash pad to cool off during the city's recent heat wave.
