Judge to Marina Owners: Fix the Piers Now

The injunction is the latest in weeks of wrangling between the marina owner and houseboat residents.

The injunction included the following orders:

  • Marina owner Matin Oliner must take steps to ensure public safety at the marina and associated piers
  • Oliner must file an engineering report by Wednesday
  • If the engineering report shows no part of the marina is safe, Oliner must pay for the relocation of boats docked at the marina.
  • Oliner and his two companies (Shipyard Quarters Marina and Pier 9) will have their assets frozen
  • Work on the marina must be inspected by an engineer
The marina had issued eviction notices for boats docked at the marina. The surprise 48-hour eviction notice to the residents of houseboats at the marina. Those residents got a reprieve from the court, which halted the evictions.
