Daily 5: Kids' Crafts at John Harvard Mall, Visit from the Storymobile

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Friday, July 12 in Charlestown.

1. Rain likely: Friday, July 12 will be cloudy with showers and a possible thunderstorm after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. High: 74, Low: 64. Weekend forecast: Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and thunderstorms, a high near 80 and a low near 67. Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 85 and a low around 71.

2. Crafts in the park: Mayor Thomas Menino is sponsoring free craft workshops around Boston parks during the month of July. On Fridays, July 12, 19 and 26, bring the kids to the John Harvard Mall (between Harvard and Main streets) in Charlestown. All sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon. 3. Storymobile: ReadBoston’s Storymobile Program will be bringing books and literacy activities to Charlestown children on Fridays in July and August starting Friday, July 12. The Storymobile will be at The Children’s Quarters (136 First Ave.) at 10 a.m., the Kennedy Center (23A Moulton St.) at 11:15 a.m. and the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) at 1:15 p.m.

4. BHCC Open House: Bunker Hill Community College will host an open house for prospective students on Saturday, July 13. The event will include campus tours and meetings with representative from admissions, faculty, academic departments, advising and more. Register at bhcc.mass.edu/openhouse.

5. Free Fun Fridays: Explore some of the Boston area's best museums this summer for free through the “Free Fun Fridays” program offered by Highland Street Foundation. On July 12, admission is free at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, plus five other locations. Details here: http://bit.ly/155laxB
