Daily 5: Casino Update at the Knights of Columbus

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Monday, July 15 in Charlestown.

1. Hot: Monday, July 15 will be mostly sunny with a high near 90 and a low around 74, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Casino update: James McHugh from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission will be in Charlestown on Monday, July 15 to discuss the process the commission is using to determine the location for a casino in the greater Boston area. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus (545 Medford St.). The Charlestown Neighborhood Council and Charlestown Mothers Association are hosting.

3. Coffee talk: State Rep. Eugene O’Flaherty holds office hours every first and third Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at Zume's Coffee House (223 Main St.).

4. Movie Mondays: Check out some of Hollywood’s classic films on Mondays in July at the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.). The July 15 film will be “To Catch a Thief” (1955). This event will start at 2:30 p.m. and is free and open to the community.

5. Read to Seamus: Children are welcome to drop by the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) on Mondays in June from 4:30-5:30 p.m. to read to trained therapy dog Seamus. For more information, call 617-242-1248.
