Courageous Sailing Launches New Youth-Based 'Keel Campaign'

The group's board plans to contribute more than $200,000, which it hopes to match with another $200,000 by year's end.

Charlestown-based Courageous Sailing last week announced the launch of a new campaign focused on raising awareness of its youth programs, the Charlestown Patriot-Bridge reported

Courageous Sailing, which works to provide low-cost sailing-based youth development opportunities to children in the Boston area, offers programs that teach various skills and enhance children's lives.

The new fundraising initiative is called the "Courageous Keel Campaign," which is designed to ensure that Courageous Sailing has the financial reserves needed to continue to serve Boston kids for many years to come, according to the group's website.

As part of the campaign, the Courageous Board of Directors plans to contribute more than $200,000, which it hopes to match with another $200,000 in commitments by the end of the year.

Courageous Sailing previously filed a request to host events on Pier 4 in Charlestown this summer that would be held under a tent measuring 50-feet by 100-feet, in an effort to fund the Courageous Youth Program.
