Charlestown Not Affected by New Boston Trash Collection Plans

The new contracts go into effect July 1.

A host of neighborhoods in Boston will be affected by new collection hauling and disposal contracts that go into effect on July 1, but Charlestown will not be among them, according to an announcement by Boston city officials.

As part of Boston's newest contract, Charlestown will have a new hauler, Sunrise Scavenger, but there will be no changes to the current collection format. For more information, call 617-635-3485 or visit www.cityofboston.gov/ons

"I'm concerned for the environment and we have to do our part by protecting our city," Boston Mayor Martin Walsh said in a statement. "This new contract has been implemented with the goal of encouraging more recycling and trash collection with keeping our current financial climate in mind."
