Boston Marathon Bombing Survivors Commend Spaulding Hospital

Several have recently credited the Charlestown building for treatment and recovery efforts.

The first anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings is approaching quickly, and survivors of the tragedy last year recently gave credit for their recovery to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown.

Two bombing survivors recently commended the hospital, referring to it as having an upbeat atmosphere and being a beautiful facility, according to CBS Boston

Spaulding Vice President of Human Relations told CBS Boston that patients and staff provided input on aspects of the hospital's design, and the building itself includes guest beds in each room as well as a gym and therapeutic pool, according to the report. The building opened to patients last April.

The hospital has also formed a Spaulding "Race for Rehab" team, comprising 100 runners who will take part in the 118th Boston Marathon this year. The team aims to raise $750,000, which will be used to name the building's fifth floor Comprehensive Rehabilitation Program in honor of the care provided to the Boston Marathon bombing survivors.
