Boston's Tattooed Sought for Marathon Themed Photo Project

A portrait session will be held in September for people who received ink related to the April 15 attacks.

A freelance photographer is looking for Boston area residents who have received tattoos related to the Boston Marathon bombings to take part in a unique photo project, “Bled for Boston.”

Chris Padgett will hold a drop-in portrait session on Saturday, Sept. 14 and Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Boston Center for Adult Education, 122 Arlington St. Individuals who are interested in having their Boston Marathon-themed tattoo photographed and documented can register for a photo session by emailing Padgett at info@bledforboston.com.

The photographs will be shown as part of the Boston Center for Adult Education’s rotating art exhibit in April 2014, marking the first anniversary of the Boston bombings.

Padgett, an instructor at the education center, was so moved by the bombings that he decided to honor the victims by getting a tattoo at Good Mojo Tattoos in Beverly, which was giving a portion of proceeds from all Boston-themed tattoos to the bombing victims, according to a press release about the project.

“Bostonians everywhere showed their support for the city after the Boston Marathon bombings. Many tattoo shops in Massachusetts stepped up and offered Boston-themed tattoos, donating their profits to The One Fund Boston. I want to document the people that dedicated permanent space on their bodies as memorials to their city, first-responders and the people who lost their lives at the Marathon,” Padgett said.
