Free skin cancer screening August 4 at Revere Beach

Revere, Mass. – With summer in full swing, this is the season for outdoor activities and grabbing ice cream with family and friends. One important thing to remember while having fun in the sun is to stay safe by protecting skin from the sun’s harmful rays.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is raising awareness about the importance of skin cancer prevention and staying safe in the sun with the #CareCoverCommit campaign and is offering free skin cancer screening and education at Revere Beach Monday, August 4, from 12 to 4 p.m. onboard the Blum Family Resource Center Van.

A dermatologist will be available to provide free full-body examinations and address any skin-cancer related concerns. Adults will also have the opportunity to take a photo that will show areas with sun damage and learn how to protect themselves from further damage. Participants will receive educational materials, sunscreen, key chains with energy beads that change color in response to UV rays, and Red Sox baseball caps (while supplies last).
