'The After-Dinner Joke' at the Working Theater, Story Train at the Branch Library

Events in Charlestown today.

• At 8 p.m., the Charlestown Working Theater, 442 Bunker Hill St., will stage "The After-Dinner Joke" in which five actors will play more than 60 characters in this 1978 BBC teleplay by the great Caryl Churchill. It revolves around an idealistic charity worker who runs head-on into the political complexities of philanthropy. Directed by Meg Taintor. 

• Join the staff of the Charlestown branch of the Boston Public Library at 10 a.m. for Story Time Station as they travel for some great stories, songs, and more. All ages and groups are welcome to this fun activity designed to get children excited about reading. Stay and play until 10:45 a.m. Please arrive on time as the story time room will be closed when story time starts.
