Last Visit of the Season from the ReadBoston StoryMobile

Deadlines, events and other items you should know about on Aug. 16 in Charlestown.

1. Mostly sunny: Friday, Aug. 16 will be mostly sunny with a high near 79 and a low around 63, according to the National Weather Service. Weekend forecast: Saturday will be mostly cloudy and Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs near 80 and lows around 61-62.

2. Last visit from the Storymobile: ReadBoston’s Storymobile will make its final stop of the summer in Charlestown on Friday, Aug. 16. The Storymobile brings books and literacy activities right to the neighborhood, with visits scheduled at 10 a.m. at The Children’s Quarters (136 First Ave.), 11:15 a.m. at the Kennedy Center (23A Moulton St.) and 1:15 p.m. at the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.).

3. Free Fridays: Admission to the USS Constitution Museum will be free on Friday, Aug. 16, part of the Free Fun Fridays program sponsored by Highland Street Foundation. Admission is also free Friday at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston.

4. Enrollment open at Kennedy Center: The Kennedy Center is now enrolling children for its 23 A Moulton St. location (old Kent School) in Charlestown. The center offers income eligible Head Start, Extended Day preschool and after school services. The Child Focus Centers located in Bunker Hill Community College’s Charlestown and Chelsea campuses offer private pay and income eligible full day and (limited) part-time preschool and toddler childcare services. For more information, call Jackie at 617-241-8866 ext. 1339 or email enrollmentcoordinator@kennedycenter.org.

5. Greenway concert: The Berklee College of Music is bringing free summer concerts to the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway on Friday evenings throughout August. B’Major will perform on Aug. 16. Concerts are free and begin at 6 p.m. at the North End Park (46 Cross St.). Learn more atberklee.edu/events/summer.
