4. You probably know the statue of the nicely-dressed man at the National Park Service's currently-closed Bunker Hill Monument as Col. William Prescott, the leader of the colonial forces. But did you know the work was created by the American sculptor (and Boston native) William Wetmore Story who had been living in Rome since 1850. It was cast in the ancient capital and erected beside the monument in 1881.
5. On this day in 1970, Matt Damon is born. In his Academy Award-winning film "Good Will Hunting," screenwriter and actor Damon depicts Charlestown's Bunker Hill Community College as the location where his character, Will Hunting, meets professor Sean Maguire, played by Robin Williams, to confront his personal demons.
