The Boston Fire Department responded to 50 Terminal Street Tuesday morning after a passerby noticed a car in the water. Crews verified that the car was empty before responding with equipment to remove it.

Actor Jeff Bridges appeared in the town today, on the set of R.I.P.D. Bridges joined co-stars Kevin Bacon and Ryan Reynolds to film scenes from their upcoming movie, which follows a squad of undead police officers. R.I.P.D. will be shooting in Charlestown throughout the week. The film also stars Mary-Louise Parker.

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Bacon were in the neighborhood on Monday, the first day of filming. Neighbors, extras and fans hung around the neighborhood, hoping to get a look. Rumor has it that Sandra Bullock, Reynold's possible (real life) love interest, might be on the set this week.
It was a gorgeous day to experience Art in the Park this year. More than 60 artists and artisans took over City Square, displaying original works of art for sale. It was the 14th annual Art in the Park exhibit. The festival was hosted by The Friends of City Square Park and Artists Group of Charlestown.
With Hurricane Irene just hours away, thousands of Bostonians gathered on City Hall Plaza for the third annual Back-to-School Jamboree. The event, hosted by the Mayor's Office and Boston Public Schools, featured performances, information booths, and giveaways to get students and parents excited about the new school year. Boston's first day of school is Sept. 8, with kindergarten beginning Sept. 12.
The Red Bull World Cliff Diving Series visited Boston on Saturday, and participating divers got a different flavor of competition -- they jumped from the top of the Institute of Contemporary Art into the harbor. Check Patch later for video from the competition.

This past Wednesday's concert sponsored by the Friends of City Square Park brought neighbors together under the sunshine to enjoy the mellow sounds of Irie Roots. Babies were everywhere, and they especially enjoyed the upbeat-yet-relaxing tunes.
The Harvard Alumni Jazz Band played old and new classics to community members of all ages in a free concert sponsored by the Friends of the Charlestown Navy Yard on Aug. 11. Children played in the water, adults brought picnics, and, in true Charlestown fashion, dogs were everywhere.
