I would like to know also,does anybody have any information on the opening?
It seems to me like it is complete!
I have seen some people walking over it but you have to squeeze thru the chain link fence!
It certantainly be nice when you can walk over to the Charles.
It would be great if it was done before the fourth of July then you could go over to the park in Cambridge and watch the fireworks from there.
Also what about the walkway that is beside the Tobin bridge on ramp , how about cleaning that up and taking down that gate to access the park also? Put the lights on and make it user friendly!
Just a question, that needs an answer!

You can walk across it right now -- I've done so several times in the past week. The gates seem to be deliberately left partially open. Biking is also possible, if you're willing to get off your bike and walk it around the gates.

Grace, where did you hear about the ribbon cutting? Can you link to the article or press release?

If I were in charge of scheduling such an event, I'd hold it off until Saturday morning when a lot more people could attend, and it could be covered in the Sunday papers.

One word "ridiculous" just open it!

What we're really waiting for is the landscaping crew to finish up on the Charlestown side, but yeah, let's open it officially already.

Thanks for the info, but I also hope while the "landscapers " are there doing their job I am hoping that someone also cleans up the walkway that runs from the college parking lot over to Paul Revere Park, or is that the city,state, or fed issue does anyone know who supposed to maintain that area? That is all overgrown with weeds along the sidewalk, who's responsibility?
I truly believe they never take into consideration who is going to maintain all these area's .

Hey "just a person" - I agree that the delaying of opening of the park is a shame, for whatever reason. However, I do not see a need to blame Charlestown for this. The City is to blame, not the neighborhood. Including "Welcome to Boston/Charlestown." implies that the neighborhood delayed it for some reason which is not the case at all. I would ask you to please be more accurate in the future. Charlestown has enough of it's own problems without being blamed for not opening a park too!

OK, well either way, my point was that the neighborhood has nothing to do with it.

Exactly "just". Boston/Charlestown. You just made my point for me. How is mentioning the town NOT implying it? Charlestown being a neighborhood in the city has ZERO to do with any delay. I didn't put words in anybody's mouth. I was simply stating fact. Thanks to ron Newman for the info! Seeing that it is opening on the Cambridge side suggests to me that you may be correct that it was a DCR project, run by the Commonwealth and not Boston or the neighborhood of Charlestown.
