Historical Pictures of Crosby Steam Gage and Valve Charlestown

A lot of customers comment on the building Pura Vida Home Decor occupies along with Raybern Decorative Hardware, Spindrift Soda and Charlestown Veterinary Clinic. Most have forgotten that the building is in Charlestown. I affectionately call this little section west of 93 'the wrong side of the tracks Charlestown' because there literally are plenty of train tracks cutting us off from the main part of town.

I am hoping this blog will re-introduce the building to the wonderful people of Charlestown, by showing some historical pictures that I have found. I am no expert on the history of the building, however; best I can tell it was built around the 1880s. It was the home of Crosby Steam Gage and Valve Company until around the 1940s.

I couldn't have asked for a better place to open my store, as I am a big history buff. I love walking around the building wondering 'what once was'. Hope you find the pictures interesting and will want to make a visit 'way over here' sometime soon!

Great pictures! Your store looks beautiful, and fits right in with the building.

Good day.
I work with the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum in Chestnut Hill. We have several Crosby steam pressure gauges, and I was wondering if you have an idea of where I can find some history about the early gauges (Ashcroft, American)?
