Across the street from the long-vacant R. Wesley Bistro stands a 45,000 square foot warehouse space ready for its next tenant.
According to NAI Hunneman real estate, the enormous three-floor space is immediately available and comes with 140 parking spaces.
So, what would you like to see there? It’s a bit big for a typical retail use, but what about a box store like a Target? Perhaps a gym? A mall?
Tell us what you would like to see here.

This facility once provided a lot of good paying manufacturing jobs. Your suggestions for reuse would not do that. The size of this building would be appropriate for high tech manufacturing as a single use or as smaller units it could provide space for start ups. We should stop always deferring to retail as a solution. It does not create quality jobs and does not keep the money made circulating in the community.

Well, then what would you like to see there? High-tech manufacturing tends to be fairly low or labor. Would it really bring more jobs than a gym or a mall?

Without some services within the building or close by (food, etc.) it would be very unattractive for office or high tech workers. Where do you go for lunch, coffee? Brave the Circle of Death to go where, Schraffts? That is a horrible location for foot traffic.

I think an indoor public market would be cool, similar to what was in Portland, ME. Fresh produce, dairy, flowers, plus artisans goods (crafts, homemade soaps, etc). Unlike a grocery store, it would be for independent sellers. Plus, on the T for those coming from other areas.

What about a Trader Joe's? I think that store would do very well there.

Between this space and Priscilla's of Boston next door closing this corner of C-Town is in need of economic resuscitation.
The question we have to ask our selves do we want any small scale manufacturing jobs left in town or do we want to convert the last few buildings of this type into something else?
While I would love to see a Trader Joe's take over the space I don't think thats in the cards as they already have a location that is quite close.
Office or retail will have problems with the limited parking around the area. While manufacturing is still a good fit given the limits of the space with public transportation is so close. Thats assuming you can find someone willing to invest the effort of finding a tenant.
One last thought would be to make artist lofts between the two buildings.
