Visions for Vacancy: Empty Navy Yard Space

What else does Charlestown need in the Navy Yard?

Dartmouth Properties currently has a 9,600 square foot property for rent at 55 Constitution Road.

Right now, its tall windows are blocked by brown paper, but the advertisement tacked to the middle frame suggests that it would be a great location for a retail store or a restaurant.

The space also includes a 3,500 square foot outdoor courtyard, and the online listing for the property notes that it’s “steps from the USS Constitution and on the Freedom Trail.”

What all that in mind, what would you like to see there? Should it be something targeted at locals, or should it be targeted at tourists? Does that area of town need another restaurant?

If it has parking, this might be the place for a Trader Joe's. Although, I never felt that Charlestown could support one.

I think a great sushi or mexican restaurant would be awesome and be perfect in that area.

Dining options, Dining options, Dining options.... The Navy yard needs more dining options that are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner....MGH IHP just opened space in the building next door... perhaps they can expand to this building as well?

Another vote for Trader Joe's... I think Charlestown and surrounding area can and will support it....

This space is too big for most restaurants.

Panera Bread? Negative on that. Trader Joes would be awesome, though.

Click on Joseph's link and tell TJ's you want them here. Get your friends to do the same.
