Once upon a time, a restaurant named R. Wesley’s Bistro occupied the commercial bay at 31 Cambridge Street just on the other side of Sullivan Square.
Today, its name remains on the windows and awnings, but the glass gas grown dusty and the interior remains dark.
Given its location, what would you like to see there? Another restaurant? A pub? A gift shop?
With its distance from the heart of Charlestown—and the main roads clustered all around it—does this parcel even matter to you?

The first floor commercial unit is owned by Joe McGonagle of 39 Mystic St. Charlestown via MCG Realty Corp. Perhaps you can reach out to him for comment on why it has been vacant for so long and what plans he has for it in the future? There doesn't seem to be much motivation to do anything with it.

It is such an noisy, industrial area, with no free parking anywhere, why do people care what Joe does with it? If Wesley's couldn't cut it why do you think anything else would work? More importantly, how many Townies walk by that daily? count 'em on your hand..

People care because Charlestown needs more dining options and I know a lot of people who are brave enough to cross the circle on foot (no parking needed) if there was something good in that space. Joe is missing out on making money.

When Wesleys was opened it had a following and was quite good! I believe it was operational issues that forced it too close. Its such an eyesore now that it would be a good idea for the owner to clean it up and at least post a sign that the space is for lease! You never know what that could lead too!

I don't know about this location however the 1st Charlestown Veterinary Hospital just opened this month and it is located down the street at 24 Roland Street and having its Open House tomorrow from 11-2 All are welcome so please come and enjoy some food and refreshments!!

I live on the end of Medford Street near the fire station, and regularly walk over to Tavern at the End of the World for a bite and a beer. If there were something in R. Wesley's space, I'd certainly stop there as well to mix things up. In a perfect world, I'd love to have a convenience store on our end of town (like Harry's that used to be at the corner of Baldwin and Main before it was spun into a residential unit). There really is nothing any closer than Doyle's to grab something quick. I think it'd be a good opportunity for someone to open a small convenience store. The foot traffic from the T Station alone would probably support the place.

People have too much time on thier hands to worry about other peoples property. I liked it when it was The Celtic Tavern, as they served a nice Pepper Steak Sandwich.
