Victories All Around for Charlestown Youth Hockey Teams

Charlestown high school boys' basketball
The CHS Townies Boys' basketball team went 2-0 in their contests last week defeating both Madison Park and Mount Pleasant High Schools. On Thursday, Akosa Maduegbunam had 17 points and 8 rebounds while Rony Fernandes went 3-3 for three-pointers and had 13 points in the Townies' 64-46 win over Madison Park.
On Saturday, the Townies hosted Rhode Island's Mount Pleasant High School. Once again, Maduegbunam put up big numbers with 22 points in Charlestown's 88-55 win. Omar Orriols also notched 18 points.
The wins improve the Townies' overall record to 10-1, 6-0 in the Boston City North league, and they also improve to No. 8 in the Boston Globe's Statewide Top 20 Ranking.
Both the Freshman and JV teams found success against Mount Pleasant on Saturday afternoon as well. The Townies youngest squad won 74-55, and the JV team edged out a 61-56 win over the Kilties.
The varsity team will gear up for three games this week. They will travel intown to take on Fenway, and on Thursday and Saturday they will host Snowden International and St. John's Prep, respectively.
CHARLESTOWN YOUTH HOCKEY
The Charlestown Girls' U12 team tied 3-3 with the Manchester Hurricanes on Sunday. Leah Farmer, Micayla Sindoris and Ciara Wall all had goals. Casey Libby had a solid performance in net to hold the game to a 3-3 tie.
Colin Nestor led the Charlestown Squirt "A" squad with a hat trick to a 5-1 victory over Allston-Brighton. The other two goals were scored by Brody Tuite and Matt Lakus.
The Charlestown Pee Wee "A" team won both of their weekend games in a dominating fashion. In a 7-2 win against South Boston on Saturday, Sean Wrenn (3), Nolan Doherty (1), Hughie O'Donnell (1), Cam Delvalle (1) and Ronan Carrier all teamed up to put goals in the net. On Sunday vs. Dorchester, Ray Suppa (3), Nolan Doherty (2), Hughie O'Connell (2) and Cam Delvalle put 8 shots in the net for an 8-2 win.
