TELL US: Who Won the Presidential Debate?

Did you think President Barack Obama or former Gov. Mitt Romney won the first debate?

The much anticipated first presidential debate is over and the pundits have spoken.

But we want to know: who do you think won the debate?

Did you like former Gov. Mitt Romney's approach or back what President Barack Obama had to say?

Some pundits after the debate praised Romney while criticizing the president for being disinterested and not being prepared. However, others said Obama made great points during the health care debate.

What do you think? How would you grade each candidate? Let us know in the comments section.

Barack was totally flat. Romney was better. Is it going to make a difference? Probably not.

Hey Les Masterson – Let me introduce you to Daniel DeMaina. You two work together and post the same articles under the Elections section. Difference, Daniel @ 5:30am and much more thorough, you at 11:00am and not much content. Any reason why the duplicate article asking us readers the same question? Thanks.

Joseph! Always nice to hear from you. The first article you mentioned was a result of a survey we sent out to our political influencers last night to get their opinions on the debate. This article is an attempt to get residents talking about what THEY think, too. Both are attempts to get some good local conversation going on the national issue. Hope that clears it up.

Sara! Always great to hear you explain how The Patch works. Thanks for that. I guess we'll have to get used to duplicate articles across all towns. Ok. Starting to get bored of The Patch. Losing the Charlestown content that brought me here in the first place. Too many cross town articles, duplicate blogs, etc.

Anyways, funny that the Obama supporters are so quiet today. Hard to defend that display last night, huh?

There you are Scott! You can't defend yourself against my valid points about that fraud the professor, so you disappear and now come back resorting to label me an assclown. Wait a second. You can't do that. I've already been labeled as such!! You're using my term for you! LOL!!

And I am working. Close to 12 hours a day. How's that couch treating you? Didn't your mother tell you pointing at others is rude?

Can't wait to see how you spin the outcome of this debate showing Obama won. Keep those blinders on that narrow mind of yours.

Romney was strong. He is a numbers guy and came off as totally confident in what he was saying. He hit a home run. Stanstone

I am and will always be for Obama. Isay this because Romney cannot be truster. Seniors beware. What Romney said @ss Medicare and Medicaid will change time after time before Nov6.And it will not be for the better for Medicare, They wii give you vouchers and when you cant get coverage then its tough luck, even though they say now that you can keep your M . that will change.

Melinda, by your use of the English language i feel that i can make a few solid assumptions; 1) You are not very well educated, 2) You are easily persuaded by what other tell you (You don't know how to think for yourself), 3) You are voting for Obama for one reason and one reason alone HE'S BLACK (Which is racist), 4) You rely heavily on government handouts. Please do not comment when you CLEARLY are not knowledgeable on the subject. Ex. "seniors beware", his plan would not affect senior, it would effect FUTURE seniors.

PS If you think ANY politician can be trusted maybe you should use your MassHealth and get you head examined.

John, no comment on your overarching assumptions about Melinda, but your "use of the English language" is definitely nothing to write home about either. Perhaps you and Melinda can go back to grammar school together?

I'm not sure how vouchers are much different than Medicare Part C. Can anyone explain this?

In a choice between Romney and Obama, the voters lose and the oligarchy wins. There is little to no difference between the candidates on the most important issues. They both agree on:

The Federal Reserve controlling our monetary policy.
Our foreign policy of drone strikes.
Our Unconstitutional use of our military in undeclared wars.
The NDAA, allowing indefinite detention of American Citizens on American soil.
The national debt (not the deficit) increasing beyond current levels.
The bailouts of insolvent banks and bankrupt industries.
Corporations controlling our political process.
Lobbyists writing legislation to be passed by our "representatives".
Trapwire and Stellar Wind, two programs designed to capture all our electronic communications and enable constant surveillance in violation of the Fourth Amendment.
The non-prosecution of gross fraud and misrepresentation on Wall Street.
The violation and destruction of 200 years of property laws by the use of the Mortgage Electronic Registration System - MERS.
The restriction of our First Amendment rights when in close proximity to a "event of national significance".
The Unconstitutional act of "Signing Statements" by the President.
The allowing of Genetically Modified Organisms into our food supply.

Both parties are simply two wings of the same bird of prey. Welcome to Neofeudalism, where your rights are restricted, and your debts force you to work yourself to death for material goods. Enjoy your serfdom.

I flipped over to watch Miggy get the triple crown after I heard this horsecrap:

ROMNEY: Regulation is essential. You can’t have a free market work if you don’t have regulation. As a businessperson, I had to have -- I need to know the regulations. I needed them there. You couldn’t have people opening up banks in their -- in their garage and making loans. I mean, you have to have regulations so that you can have an economy work. Every free economy has good regulation.

L M F A O. $10,000 says this deceitful, magic underpants wearing POS loses by 100+ electoral votes. What will unemployed hack trolls do then? What's the dayrate on gargling Rove?

How is this horsecrap? One of the main conditions for a free market is there have to be regulations in place to prevent fraud. Have you ever taken economics?

Highly doubt you have $10k to wager.

Ajax - Scott will refuse to acknowledge your question about his knowledge on economics. Nothing but a lemming. And we all know lemmings don't study economics.

Scott, it depends on the regulations. Some prevent fraud and others just create red tape. Its all about having the right regulations in place to make things work smoothly for all parties.

The answer to this question depends upon what you are measuring. In terms of "performance," Rmoney won. But that's exactly what it was: a performance. He is very good at saying what he thinks people want to hear, regardless of what he said yesterday or last week or last year. If you are measuring content, accuracy and fact-based responses, Obama won hands down. Remember folks, this is not a reality TV show where we are asked to judge performances. This is reality.

Really Robyn? All I heard from Obama was what his plan will be. 4 years and hasn't implemented one. Content? He couldn't formulate sentences and recited campaign slogans. When confronted, he babbled and began talking about other topics.

We're not going to agree on this. I know this. I just don't see how you can say content, accuracy and fact-based responses was what Obama delivered. If he had, I think we would have read about.

Romney won on performance, but he failed on content. His tax plan will cost $5billion which he cannot pay for without hurting the middle class. He will eliminate deductions that are key to middle class prosperity (mortgage interest, state taxes, child care credit). I don't think it will change the election results just as it didn't change the poll numbers in the battleground states. Obama will be re-elected.

The magazine's Oct. 15 cover features Mitt Romney debating an empty chair instead of President Barack Obama, just as Clint Eastwood did at the Republican National Convention.

“This image seemed like a proper response to the first Presidential debate, but I’m not sure I realized how hard it is to caricature furniture," Barry Blitt told The New Yorker about his cover, “One on One."

Jay Leno goes after the President again.

Early in his opening monologue, the NBC Tonight Show host said of the stellar television ratings for Wednesday night's debate, "The only person who didn't tune in, I think, was President Obama"

What a crowd! Man! Yeah! You sound like Republicans watching last night's debate. Oh, my gosh. Well, the consensus is Mitt Romney won the presidential debate last night. The only people that thought Obama won - the replacement refs. Those are the only ones.

They're saying close to 60 million people may have watched the debate. In fact, the only person who didn't tune in, I think, was President Obama. What happened? [Laughter] Even Tony Romo was going, “What happened?”

I think Romney won although they both must be getting tired of saying the same things over and over.

We haven't gotten anywhere with Obama...Romney will make an excellent president. One we can be proud of for a change!
