POLL: Are You Excited About Olives' Return?
Or would you rather see something else in the same space.
Olives has reopened after a long absence from Charlestown’s dining scene.
Restaurant staff welcomed friends and family during a soft opening this weekend, and the doors will open today to the general public, according to an assistant general manager answering the phone.
Across twitter and food blogs, people have posted positive reactions to the news—but Chef Todd English has not always had the warmest of responses in town.
One reader on Facebook responded to the news with “BOO, I bet it won't be for long!” and a previous poll on local attitudes about the restaurant revealed that a vocal minority of Charlestown’s population don’t care to see the restaurant reopened.
Now that it has, though, we would like to reassess people’s feelings.
So, let us know what you think about Olives and English now that the long wait is over.

I can't believe almost 1/3 of people would respond that they are "annoyed" that Olives is back. We wonder why Main St looks like a depression era ghost town of closed shops, it's because people fight ANY change in this town. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's changed, and continues to change...

Let's try and stay positive people. Any business that opens in Charlestown should be supported---thriving businesses help everyone in town...not wishing them well is like shooting yourself in the foot. Olives was/is a great restaurant and Charlestown is a better place having it open again.

I completely agree. The two times we have tried to get in for drinks at the bar indicates that others agree as well, the place was slammed both times. Standing room only indicates Ctown could use a few more upscale restaurants.

I totally agree that Olive's is a great restaurant, and I will be there eating and drinking with the rest of the folks who enjoy it's food. BUT it's only because the choices for a nice dinner and decent martini in Charlesotwn are so limited. Bring someone like Jodi Adams here. I'd pick her any day over Todd! Not just because her food is better but because she also cares about giving back to her community.

I had to laugh yesterday. Went to OpenTable to reserve a table, the site said Olives computer was down, called to reserve a table, reservation line was full even though they don't apparently take reservations for parties of 6 or less. Went in early yesterday for dinner and was told they don't have a menu and she couldn't tell me what kind of food they were serving. She said you could pay $20 per person family style and they would serve you "something", but she didn't know what that was. OK, I know starting a restaurant is a HUGE undertaking, but how long have the doors been closed? No menu, cmon lets put a little less effort into this one...
