In at least two incidents, victims were transported to a hospital for treatment.
In the last week, there have been multiple reports of assaults around the neighborhood. In at least two incidents, victims were transported to the hospital and treated for injuries.
On Aug. 8, police responded to a report of a "man down" at 50 Monument Street around 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man with a stab wound, bleeding profusely from the face and stomach. The victim was transported to Mass. General Hospital for treatment. Officers traced the blood back to 25 Carney Court, where witnesses said a suspect ran inside an apartment to wash blood from his hands. After further investigation, police identified 50 Monument St. as the crime scene, where they spoke to the victim's mother -- and the suspect's mother as well. Police located the suspect, who had also sustained injuries, and had him taken to the hospital for treatment as well.
And on Aug. 14, officers arrived at 10 Carney Court to find a man whose leg had been slashed with a machete. Witnesses reported they heard the victim shouting and saw him leaning against a tree, bleeding heavily. No suspects were observed. When police arrived, they had a difficult time obtaining any information from the victim. According to the police report, he was "highly intoxicated." He told police he was attacked by four men and provided a description of one suspect. He was transported to Mass. General Hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
