Police Log: Two Attack Elderly Woman, Steal Purse

Crime adds to recent trend.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13, officers responded to a robbery in progress near the parking garage at 68 Baldwin Street. Upon their arrival, an elderly woman told police that two men, both in dark hoodies and standing between five-foot eight and five-foot ten, came up behind her, pushed her to the ground and stole her purse. The purse contained $150 in cash along with personal items, she said. She refused medical attention and went home.

The crime adds to a recent in Charlestown of robbers attacking women at night to steel their purses. In another recent event, the robbers failed to get the woman’s purse. In response, the department released for women walking at night.
