PHOTOS: Fabulous Fireworks Despite Short Interruption
Crowds on the Esplanade were temporarily evacuated for fear of rain, but returned to great show.
Although the Boston Pops concert was briefly interrupted as organizers took to the stage tell people to evacuate because of impending rain, the show was back on within an hour and the fireworks started at their planned time.
The announcement to leave the open areas of the Esplanade came around 9 p.m. as lightning was advancing on Boston, but no storm came as people waiting in the Storrow tunnel, Hynes Convention Center, Boston Common Garage, MIT buildings and elsewhere. By 10 p.m., revelers got the green light to head back to the river.
However, just as Jennifer Hudson began to sing, and the fireworks started, so did the rain. Still, crowds were delighted with the show in spite of a few drops of rain. The mood on the Massachusetts Avenue bridge was jubilant as people made makeshift umbrellas from plastic bags or blankets while watching the show.
Boston police said that there were no major incidents during the event and that everyone was fairly well behaved.

A friend of mine and I were present for the fireworks. We had a great time and loved every minute of it, rain and all!
