If you look closely at the photo you might notice that the Bunker Hill Monument is slightly to the left of center from the middle of Monument Avenue. That is because the Bostonians who had much to do the building of the monument wanted Monument Ave to be 50 feet wide but Charlesown town officials said 50 feet was too wide and so today it is only thirty feet wide and not in the exact location of where the Bostonians wanted it.
