Photo of the Day: Falcon on a Fence
A daily image of life in Charlestown for Wednesday, Jan. 23.
MaryLee Trettenero was surprised to find a large wild bird sitting on her backyard fence on Prospect Street last Sunday, Jan. 20. The bird appeared to be a falcon or kestrel.
MaryLee is curious: Has anyone else seen this creature around Charlestown? Does anyone know what kind of bird this is?

Most likely an American Kestrel.

Thanks Don. That's what my nephew thought. There's a link someone submitted for a sharp shinned hawk. It has the same banding on the tail as the bird on my fence.
