Open Market Set for City Square This Weekend

The Chamber of Commerce hosts an open market on the Freedom Trail this Saturday. Plus four more things you need to know today.

Today is Monday, Oct. 3. Here are five things you need to know today.

1. The Charlestown Neighborhood Council is meeting this week for its regular, monthly session. Public comments welcome. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus.

2. Charlestown's own MaryLee Trettenero, the healer behind Boston Intuitive, will be doing readings at Olivia Browning this week. You can schedule a 15-minute session for $35.

3. And save the date this weekend: The neighborhood's open market is on this Saturday 10 a.m. Stop by for gifts, jewelery, Townie-themed merchandise, plus a chance to learn more about a few community organizations. For more details, visit the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce

4. Just a piece of interesting data: The Globe reported Sunday that a third of this year's home sales in Massachusetts were cash sales. It's a trend that's consistent across the country. And it's true about more than 50 percent of home sales in Boston. What does this say about who is buying property? I'll let you, the reader, decide.

5. Today's forecast: Chance of showers (30 percent); otherwise, mostly cloudy with a high around 65.

For more info on what's happening around the neighborhood, check out our events calendar. And please, feel free to post your own!
