Updated: Victim Named in Bunker Hill St Shooting Death
A young man was reportedly shot in the head around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Update: On Friday, Dec. 2, Boston police identified the victim of Tuesday's shooting as Willie Turner, 24, of Boston.
Boston Police say a black male victim in his 20s was shot outside 116 Bunker Hill St. (near the intersection with Lexington Street) around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The victim was transported to Mass. General Hospital and pronunced dead. No arrests have been made yet. The victim's identity, Willie Turner, 24 of Boston, was released on Friday.
News of the shooting was posted as follows on Twitter by @CrimeBoston:
"25-year-old man shot to the head on Bunker Hill Street in Charlestown."
On Charlestown Patch's Facebook page, readers say they passed the crime scene during the evening commute -- one even witnessed a "huge pool of blood on the sidewalk. It was very disturbing."
This the second shooting death in the neighborhood in recent months. Anthony Worrell, 28, of Roxbury was shot and killed on Aug. 31 outside Walford Way and McNulty Court. Boston Police never reported making any arrests in that case.
