Local Author Publishes Second Book

"The Real Town" is available at the Red Store.

The following was sent to us by Diane Grant. It has been lightly edited.

Stephen Doherty has published his second book, this one a fictional crime novel. Here is a synopsis from "The Real Town:"

Back in the ‘60’s, in Boston, as a result of an armored car robbery, a shoot-out battle broke out. It was mostly in the well know Irish neighborhoods of Charlestown and South Boston. Sean Brady, a rogue from the Town, who took the armored car, wound up in a major war with a gang from Southie. But, when it came out that the leader of the Southie crew was an undercover informant, it turned into a much larger war. Certain agents from the alleged “Justice System” went to war against Sean to protect their “fellow government employee”.

Doherty was born and raised in Charlestown. His first book, "The Execution Squad Fraud," was a tale of his unjust imprisonment and his long quest for justice.

Now, Doherty has a unique perspective on a fascinating novel of crime and corruption. Doherty’s novel, “The Real Town,” is available every weekend on the corner of Monument and Bunker at the Red Store. It will also be available at the Charlestown Women’s Club Holiday Fair on Sunday, December 18 at the KofC.
