It's Been 100 Years; Share Your Fenway Memories
Opening Day at Fenway this Friday marks the team's 100th season, and we're wondering what the park and the team has meant to you all these years.
"For 100 years, the joy of Fenway has been the unadorned, uncomplicated joy of the game itself -- a joy that connects us to the thread of history like little else. Over the next few weeks, as 30 major league parks open for another season, cries of "Play ball!" will ring out in parks across the country. The message will be at its purest in Fenway."
Sports Illustrated writer Stephen Cannella had plenty more to say about Fenway in his recent column about the park, and we at Patch are hoping you'd like to add to the conversation as this auspicious Opening Day looms. What does Fenway Park mean to you? What are your memories of Fenway?

For several years in a row I managed to see a Red Sox game for free. The BPL had a summer reading program called "Read your way to Fenway" that I always seemed to win thanks to the Charlestown branch. This must have been pre-2004 when it was a lot easier to get comp tickets!

That's awesome! My first Red Sox game was on a comped ticket as well -- it had trickled down to me from a friend whose parents' got it through their job, but couldn't attend. I was in my early 20s, though; my childhood memories of attending baseball games are all of Iowa Cubs games.

Too many great memories but if I had to pick one I'd say sitting in the bleachers with my father for the 1975 playoffs against the Oakland A's. Sox swept that series and went on to face the Reds in the World Series.
