Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Happy Birthday to Charlestown Patch

One year ago, Charlestown Patch went live for the neighborhood.

Hey Charlestown,

Over the last year, I've had the pleasure of learning about the community and curating this site. It's been instructive for me, from a background in print journalism, to see how powerful a community-driven news site can be and it's been an honor to provide the neighborhood with a platform for sharing information and having conversations -- even ones that aren't always easy.

When Patch was launched, there were some people in Charlestown who questioned the site's intention or interest in the community and weren't terribly welcoming. They were just being protective of a place they love, I understand that.

But I hope by now you've come to see that I'm here simply to work as the editor of this web site and to provide some basic news reporting to a neighborhood that doesn't get very much from other media outlets. My job is to help the neighborhood, not do anything to hurt it.

Although this web site is owned by AOL, the content, the activity and the spirit of it is totally the property of Charlestown, the best, most unique neighborhood in Boston. Hands down.

Thanks for your support,

Kristi Ceccarossi

Happy Birthday, Patch! What a year! Kristi, through your hard work, Charlestown has a daily newspaper with constant updates on all the important issues of the town. Thank you for bringing to us this unique opportunity to see the story and talk with our neighbors about it. I hope you remain in Charlestown for many, many years to come.

Happy Birthday and thank you, Kristi! I love getting my Patch updates everyday, and I know several friends in the 'hood who do, too.

According to CafeAstrology.com,

If You Were Born Today, November 2:

Your instincts are usually accurate, and you rely on your intuition when you need to make a decision. Things need to "feel" right for you. You put your heart and soul into your hobbies and your work. Your opinions are strong, yet progressive, and you don't feel the need to broadcast them indiscriminately. Music plays an important role in your life. You are a true humanitarian, and you have mystical inclinations. You are talented and versatile. Famous people born today: Marie Antoinette, k.d. lang, David Schwimmer, Burt Lancaster, Pat Buchanan, Daniel Boone.

And there's even more:

I don't know if everyone (or anyone) would agree with CafeAstrology's assessment of the Patch, but it's certainly some funny food for thought.
