Courageous Sailing Opens Doors, Offers Discounts

In preparation for Courageous Sailing’s opening day on May 1st, the Charlestown-based community sailing center will host an open house on April 22nd, 28th and 29th from 12p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. This will provide an opportunity for novice and experienced sailors to gain access to Boston Harbor, take advantage of discounted lessons and memberships, and learn more about Courageous’ sailing programs free of charge.

The open house features free harbor cruises helmed by Courageous sailors, giving prospective students and members a chance to sail on Courageous boats and familiarize themselves with the adult sailing programs offered at the center while taking in fantastic views of Boston’s waterfront. Onshore, participants can enjoy a complimentary barbecue, relax on the pier, and sign up for discounted sailing lessons(10% off) and memberships(15-25% off).

Courageous Sailing is committed to providing accessible and affordable sailing for the public through a variety of membership options, sailing lessons, and racing opportunities. These programs are designed for sailors at every level to develop their skills and experience Boston Harbor in boats of all sizes, from dinghy racing in Lasers, day sailing a Rhodes-19, to getting certified in bareboat cruising. Recognized in 2011 by U.S. Sailing and SAIL Magazine as one of the top ten community sailing programs in the nation, Courageous Sailing takes pride in its dedication to quality instruction, helpful staff, and comprehensive programs for sailors of all ages.

Courageous Sailing’s open house programs will be held from 12pm-3pm on each day. Visitors are welcome to join Courageous staff and volunteers on harbor sails accompanied by a barbecue on the pier. During the open house, discounted seasonal memberships and sailing lessons will be available at the event and also online or over the phone.
