Travel and Leisure magazine recently issued a report that named Boston as the fifth-rudest city in the country. In light of that, four Boston Patch sites (Charlestown Patch, Beacon Hill Patch, Back Bay Patch and South End Patch) ran polls asking which Boston neighborhood is the rudest.

As readers responded to our polls, an interesting pattern developed: not only were some neighborhoods consistently ranked as ruder than others, but we saw a discrepancy in how many votes came from each of the Patch sites.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, we took a snapshot of the results, and we present them to you here in chart form.

My Dear Mr. Casey, please humbly accept my condolences on receiving a rejection letter from the Pulitzer Committee for your submission on Explanatory Reporting. I understand the Committee is considering your submission under the Fiction category. Hope you win. This piece of dreck certainly deserves top honors!

The guy simply presents the results of a (non-scientific) poll and you slam him with bitter sarcasm? Perhaps the poll is rather telling ...

Who likes trivia?? A 25 letter phrase that means "the opposite of self aware" it starts with an E, and ends with "Murphy in South Boston."

Mr Houlihan,
South Boston is more than used to getting trashed over the years for such articles. I for one am proud that Ms. Foley chose to stick up for Southie. I am sure you have lived in South Boston and can personally vouch for the articles truths? Correct? If not you must concede that you know nothing of which she speaks. And really, Mr Houlihan, "whhaaa whhaaaa"? Someone obvioulsy needs to go to bed earlier and get off Daddy's pc before 2:30 am.

I believe her name is Ms. Murphy

People voted in a poll..... Casey posts results of poll.... Casey didn't manipulate the results of the poll - Reporting in aggregate is as objective as it gets. Those who self-selected to respond to the poll chose Southie most frequently....objective reporting of a subjective poll.

All it is is a simple poll. Big deal. Take peoples' opinions any way you'd like, but don't insult the poor guy who was probably told by his boss to publish the results.
